Welcome to the Using Conditions at Richter course! In this short course of study, you will learn how to apply the Hubbard* Conditions of Existence and Conditions Formulas to achieve consistent success as a Richter employee.

For those new to this area of study, the concept of using “Conditions” is a simple one. In essence, any activity is always in a given state of operation, or condition, from confusion to booming success and every point in between. As part of his technology of managing organizations, L. Ron Hubbard found that these states of operation could be mapped out on a scale and therefore predicted as an activity expands or contracts.

While the full scale of these “conditions” includes states below the ones listed here, these are the ones you’ll be using most often and therefore the ones we’ll be focusing on for this course:

The condition one is in at any given time is determined by statistics. While one may certainly “feel” like a situation is Dangerous, Affluent, or any other condition as the case may be, it is only through accurate plotting and interpretation of statistics that conditions are determined with certainty.

One is always “in” a given condition and depending on the actions taken will either move to the next higher or lower condition on the scale. It is with this in mind that Hubbard developed the Conditions Formulas, which outline the exact actions to take in any condition to raise that activity or area to the next higher condition. While working through these actions, it is standard to write out the steps one will take and is often referred to as “doing conditions” or “writing a condition”. This is a tool of no small magnitude, as when it is known and understood it removes any guesswork or confusion as to what steps to take next, no matter what state your area is in.

For example, a salesperson's statistic is Gross Income. He may be asked to track other areas of his work, such as “proposals sent out”, but the most true indicator of sales success is money in the door. Therefore, based on this statistic he would do the following each week:

  1. Accurately record the current week’s production.

  2. Establish the current condition.

  3. Write out the actions he will take in the following week to complete the formula for that condition and so raise the statistic to the next higher condition.

  4. Submit this condition write-up to his superior for review.

Finally, this course also includes some of the major stable operating principles of Richter that apply directly to your application of the Conditions Formulas - may they stand you in good stead for brilliant application and your greatest success yet!

How to Study This Course

While studying, ensure you do not pass by any word you do not fully understand. It’s this single factor that prevents someone from understanding and being able to apply new information, so be diligent about looking up every single word or symbol you have any questions about. If you need assistance or get stuck, I’m here to help you straighten things out.

You’re a member of a truly amazing team and this course was designed to dovetail with everything you’ll learn in the remainder of your training materials. It’s my mission to help you become a lean, mean, Richter machine, so I wish you all the success in the world using this truly incredible information!
